The Staff


Chiquita Williams aka Amala Hanifah Noor - Publisher - is the founding publisher of The Exchange. With more than thirteen years of experience in the youth development field, she has served as a journalist, educator, activist and cultural critic. Her work has appeared in a number of publications. Amala is an alumnus of the College of New Rochelle, where she studied social sciences and maintained a 4.0 GPA

Gary Ferrar - Editor-in-Chief - is writer of both fiction and non-fiction.  He is currently a contributor to Ins&Outs magazine and has been a reviewer for Newsday.  He is a frequent contributor to websites and the founder of the Garbage Chucking Society.  Gary is an alumnus of Hofstra University where he studied English and theater.  His GPA was only slightly lower than Ms. Noor's.

Chloe Mister - Managing Editor - is a journalist with many hats.  She is from Chicago and currently resides in Albany, NY.  Chloe has spent the majority of her adulthood advocating for youth in some capacity and is thrilled that The Exchange chose her to be a part of this magnificent project.  She has written for the Timesunion, The Chicago Reporter, and The Legislative Gazette.  She lives by the creed, "Knowledge is the Beginning."

Dominick Montalto - Copy Editor - is a part-time English professor, poet, and critical prose writer. His interests are primarily in the Arts and Humanities, with degrees in Literature, and a background in Art History and Philosophy/Comparative Religion. He is trying to pursue a career in publishing as a copy editor.

Valle Hansen - Copy Editor - works in the managing editorial department at a major book publishing company. After a brief stint teaching English in Italy, she returned to the New York area to attempt to pursue a career in writing. In her free time, she works to promote literacy and culture awareness among children and youth.

Patrick Gaughan - Staff Writer - is a writer and critic whose recent projects include the non-fiction book Campaigning for President as well as the latest issue of Planktonzine.  Originally from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, he currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.

Cheyenna Webber - Staff Writer - is the Organizing Director for the Responsible Endowments Coalition  amd has been active in social justice organizing since high school. She studied History and English at West Virginia University and maritime history at New York University. She later taught American History in the City University of NY system and experiential education programs for all ages. Her work has appeared in the Charleston Gazette, the Learning Guide Network, and Sun Spots.

Myriam Camhi - Staff Writer - Myriam is an aspiring journalist originally from Bogotá, Colombia, majoring in Communications and Advertising at Stern College. She has worked as part of an account team for KCSA, a public relations agency and for EasyRoommate.com, developing the service for Latin American countries. She currently lives in Manhattan.
